- 7:15 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. - SET UP - Help set up instruments, warm up, meet and greet.
- 7:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. - SAMBA SESSION - play our basic rhythms (batucada (Rio), samba reggae and partido alto) DANCERS rehearse to live drumming.
- 9:00 p.m. - 10:30 p.m. - FABIO - UNION SAMBA SESSION Fabio of Union Samba School leads members of Union and Super Sonic through their enredo arrangement. DANCERS rehearse to live drumming.
SUNDAYS AT BALBOA PARK, noon - 3:00 pm
Balboa Park, Park Blvd, FREE - BEGINNERS WELCOME
- Noon - 12:30 p.m. - PERCUSSION FUNDAMENTALS. Practice percussion fundamentals on either high drums (Dan leads), surdu(Dale or Stef leads) or tamborim/bell (Stef leads w/Terry assisting). NEWCOMERS and BEGINNING DRUMMERS! This is an important opportunity for you to learn what to practice and to get some fundamentals training. PLEASE be there at noon or a little before.
- 12:30 - 1:00 p.m. WARM UPS AND NEW BREAKS. Stefanie and Dan lead our warm up, intro new material, go over standard call-ins, breaks and call-outs.
- 1:00 - 1:15 p.m. - SAMBA DE RODA (samba circle) - Intro to samba rhythm in the roda!. Learn the essential basics of samba rhythms through stepping, clapping, chocalho, and tamborim. Warm up stretches and introduction to Super Sonic.
- 1:15 - 2:30 p.m. - SAMBA SESSION - play our basic rhythms (batucada (Rio), samba reggae and partido alto) as we JAM OUT FOR THE DANCERS.
- 1:15 - 2:30 p.m. - OPEN DANCE CLASS/REHEARSAL with the SUPER SONIC DANCERS. If you are new, please come and get pulled in by dance leaders Leo, Laura, Jessica Brooke and our experienced dancers. Everyone included!
- 2:45 - 3: 00 p.m. - WEEKLY DANCE AND BATERIA MEETING - here we talk about news, past and future gigs, and other plans.
